Open Drawer
Open Drawer is a direct POS action rather than a separate IMS form. It opens the connected cash drawer immediately when the active user is authorized.
Open the drawerMain toolbar → Open Drawer.
Behavior
- Click Open Drawer.
- If the user's Group Policy includes Open Cash Drawer, IMS opens the connected drawer directly.
- If the active user does not have the permission, IMS opens the authorization/login prompt so another permitted user can approve the action. The drawer opens only when authorization is approved.
No drawer form for authorized usersFor a user who already has Open Cash Drawer permission, the toolbar button sends the drawer-open command immediately. The authorization dialog appears only when an override is required.
When the action succeeds, IMS also records Open Cash Drawer in the system transaction/activity log.
